How our dogs live Ch Pompie Dutch Leiveling

We are Roger Duckham & Hilary Partridge-Duckham, in Suffolk and we share our home with 2 Dobermanns and 6 Mini Smooth and Long Dachshunds

My history in Dobermanns began in 1959 with a male and female from the Triogen kennels of Alf & Eleanor Hogg. The female Triogen Trisha, became the foundation of the Pompie kennels. Trisha cost me 25 Guineas and her brother cost me 21 Guineas.

My first litter was in 1961 sired by Carrick Green Cordon Bleu, (a Ch Urion v Madurdhof son X Iris v Wellborn). Urion was a Graaf Iskander v Neerlands Stam son. his litter produced Pompie Seaman - a solo puppy.

Throughout the years I used all Margaret Bastable's Barrimilne imports, in 1968 I used Wilm v Forrell (Ger Ch Cliff of Fayette Corner X Cita Germania) , then Timo von der Brunoberg, Baron von Bavaria and the brown Champion Gref von Hagenstern ~ hard going in those years and not very popular.

I also used Ch Findjans Poseidon with very good results. In 1977, Findjans Poseidon to Pompie Sea Aphrodite (Ger Ch Greif v Hagenstern from Barrimilne X Pompe Sea Dilettante), produced Pompie Alycone, who when mated to Salvador v Franckenhorst resulted in two very good litters. Sea Aphrodite was a very good brood bitch, and won the Dobermann Club Progeny cup 2 years running. Pompie Alcyone was later mated to Ch Flexor Adonis, and the result of this mating was the UK Breed Record Holding Bitch ~ English & Irish Champion Pompie Sea Jade of Chancepixies, born in 1983. Sea Jade was unrivalled in her show career and held the record for at least 12 years, a great achievement. Pompie Sea Buoy was exported to Ireland and easily became an Irish Champion.

Ch Pompie Dutch Leiveling (Salvador v Franckenhorst x Ch Pompie Alcyone) was Best of Breed at Crufts in 1984 and won 6CC's and 2 RCC's.

In addition to importing dogs to the UK, we remain one of the very few UK kennels to export bloodlines back to Europe. Pompie Dutch Dictator was exported firstly to Holland, Japan and then to Italy for stud work for 1 year, and Pompie Dutch Dewi was exported to the Franckenhorst kennels.

We mated a Dutch female we imported - Gaby Von Okdorp at Pompie, to Ch Dimrost Freedom Fighter, resulting in a bitch called
Ch Pompie Ain't Miss Behaving who won her first CC at 14 months.

Another imported bitch ~ Gravin Astrid v Neerlands Stam, won 1CC, but was unfortunately unable to be shown after her first litter.

In late 2002, we imported a beautiful female ~ Come As You Are Gwen, with beautiful breeding.

Hilary Partridge-Duckham is a Championship Show Judge, who in addition to other appointments, had the honour of judging Dobermann Bitches at Crufts in 1999 ~ the ultimate accolade for any UK Judge.
